Centre County Adds 8 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 561 New Positives

Centre County reported eight new COVID-19 cases on Thursday to increase its total to 16,989, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 561 positives, bringing the statewide total to 1,218,418.

The county also reported 38 negative test results to bring its total to 72,219. Statewide, there were 5,578 new negatives for a total of 4,862,946.

According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, four COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, unchanged from Wednesday. None are in intensive care or on ventilators.

Pennsylvania has 319 COVID-19 inpatients, an increase of 17 since Wednesday, with 69 in intensive care [+6] and 31 on ventilators.

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 228.

With six new COVID-19 deaths statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,819.

An estimated 97% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a health department calculation.

As of Thursday morning, 77,104 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 5,302 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
