Centre County Adds 96 COVID-19 Cases over 2 Days; Pennsylvania Reports 5,675

Centre County reported 96 new COVID-19 cases over the past two days — 60 on Sunday and 36 on Monday — to bring its total to 15,744, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 5,675 positives —3,761 on Sunday and 1,914 on Monday — for a statewide total of 1,109,291.

The county also had 160 additional negative test results over the two days, increasing its total to 66,724. Across Pennsylvania, there were 13,561 new negatives for a total of 4,294,873.

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 215.

With 29 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide — 27 on Sunday and two on Monday — Pennsylvania’s total is 25,690.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 30 COVID-19 inpatients as of Monday morning, an increase of three since the hospital’s last update on Friday. The patients range in age from 28 to 88.

According to DOH’s hospital preparedness dashboard, two COVID-19 patients in Centre County are in intensive care and one is on a ventilator.

Statewide, 2,705 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized [an increase of 52 since Saturday], including 561 in intensive care [+6] and 280 on ventilators [+5].

An estimated 89% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

As of Monday morning, 42,959 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 19,078 are partially covered. 

Among Pennsylvania’s cases, 937,515 are confirmed and 171,776 are probable. In Centre County, 14,369 are confirmed and 1,375 are probable.
