Annual Farm City Dinner to make its return

SPRING MILLS — The date of the annual Farm City Dinner, an event put on to celebrate sustainable agriculture, was announced in a statement by the Centre County Conservation District.

The dinner will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at New Hope Lutheran Church in Spring Mills.

“This annual event is a cherished tradition that brings the local community together to celebrate conservation efforts and the importance of sustainable agriculture,” the statement shared.

The dinner will begin with a milk and cheese reception at 5:30 p.m. It will be hosted by the Centre County Dairy Princess providing attendees the opportunity to interact with the princess. 

A ham and turkey dinner will take place after the milk and cheese reception. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. and guest speaker Cathryn Pugh, forestry extension educator with the Centre County Penn State Extension on Riparian Buffers: Eat, Weave and Conserve, will lead a discussion on “options available to local farms to diversify their income while conserving waterways,” the statement noted.

During the event, door prizes will be available to win, and a silent auction will occur. Additionally, individuals who have contributed to local conservation efforts will be presented with conservation awards.

Tickets to the event are $20 per adult and $10 for children between 5 and12-years-old. Children under 4-years-old are free. Tickets will not be available for purchases at the door and can be reserved by calling the Conservation District at (814) 355-6817 or emailing jdsmith@centrecountypa.gov before Friday, Oct. 31.
