Sybil Thompson scored two goals in the season opener on Aug. 28 against Tyrone, but the Bald Eagle Area girls soccer team suffered a 4-3 loss.
Thompson scored the first goal of the game with an assist by Adrienne Hacker at the 9:24 mark of the first half and gave BEA a 2-1 lead with a goal at 49:52. But Tyrone scored three goals to make the score 4-2.
BEA freshman Savanna Albright scored the final goal unassisted at the 78:10 mark.
“I felt like we had a good first half and started strong,” BEA coach Jared Moore said. “Sybil Thompson had a nice brace tonight, but we gave too much space in the second half, and Tyrone did well capitalizing on our mistakes.”
BEA had seven shots on goal, while Tyrone had five. BEA goalkeeper Maddy Smith had two saves, while Pipers Sparklin had four saves.
Bald Eagle Area won the junior varsity game, 4-0. Heidi Eveleth scored twice, while Albright and Abby Hacker had the other goals.
The Lady Eagles are back in action at home at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 2 against Moshannon Valley.
