BELLEFONTE — The Bellefonte Slalom this year, despite the Covid interference, could be named the Bellefonte Family Slalom in view of the fact that three of the long-time paddlers had five of their young kids also participating. The stream flow was high at 275-cubic-feet per second on the 22-gate course.

The fastest time on the course was by Alden Henrie, of Snow Shoe, in the K-1 singles class. He took first place in 80 seconds. Other scorers in K-1 were Matt Weldon, of State College, taking second in 81 seconds; Robbie Fulton, of State College, was third in 100 seconds; and Jon Nelson, of State College, was sixth with a 112-second score.

Nelson also won the kayak Rec class in 111 seconds.

Henrie won gold in the C-1 class with a score of 83 seconds. In this class, Danny Williams, of State College, took second place in 110 seconds.

Ava Harchak, of Julian, won first place in two classes. In woman’s kayak, her score was 103 seconds and in women’s Rec kayak, her score was 114 seconds.

Danny Williams and his son Oliver, of State College, took first place in the doubles canoe class in 174 seconds.

In mixed doubles canoe there was a little more competition. Robbie Fulton teamed with his daughter Irene to take third place in 171 seconds and with his other daughter, Audrey, to place fourth in 187 seconds.

Finally Matt Weldon competed with his children, Asa and Laurel, to win the open canoe doubles with Asa in 323 seconds and with Laurel in the mixed-doubles open canoe in 328 seconds.
