CENTRE COUNTY — Bellefonte quarterback Liam Halterman scored the tying touchdown in the fourth quarter as his North Team stormed back to take a 36-28 victory over the South in the Lezzer Lumber Classic on Friday, June 20, at Rogers Stadium in Bellefonte.

Halterman scored on an 8-yard run with 8:39 to play as the North scored the final 16 points in its comeback win over the South.

Clearfield High School’s Brady Collins ran in a two-point conversion after Halterman’s touchdown that tied things at 28-28 and then, after a North stop, he took off on a 41-yard run that gave the North a 34-28 lead with 2:28 on the clock.

Another Collins two-point conversion made it 36-28 with just another stop needed for the North to take its 21st win in the series. The North got that stop on a fourth-down tackle-for-loss by State College’s Darrell Lunon.

Collins, who was named the North’s Offensive MVP scored three touchdowns in the game and ran for a total of 101 yards, while Lunon, who also had a sack, was named the Defensive MVP.

The game was a back-and-forth affair all night with the South taking a 28-20 lead after a 9-yard run by Seth Hoover with nine seconds left in the third quarter.

But a stout, shutout fourth quarter defense and touchdowns by Halterman and Collins completed the exciting North comeback.

Twelve local players participated in the game. They were Dakota McCool and Wyatt Spackman from BEA; Halterman, Aden Howell and Noah Weaver from Bellefonte; Allen Auman from Penns Valley; Sam McDonald from P-O; and Thomas Keller, Lunon, Robert Strayer, Mar Wilson, and Reese Wilson from State College.
