SPRING MILLS — Penns Valley High School christened its new gymnasium Sept. 11 when the school’s girls’ volleyball team took on Clearfield High.

The facility is the focal point of a $15.5 million renovation project that began in June 2017. The 1,200-seat gymnasium contains 12,320 square feet of space, and is fully air-conditioned.

Spectators arrived at the new gym with the aroma of fresh varnish in the air and music playing on the public address system. The Penns Valley girls wore shirts touting “Same Game — New Digs” to commemorate the opening, and both the varsity and junior varsity teams defeated their Clearfield opponents.

The school district will hold a public open house from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24.
