SPRING MILLS — Penns Valley Area School District closed all schools in the district on Tuesday, Oct. 22, due to a “non-specific threat” that was written on a wall of the Spring Mills High School, according to a message to students’ families by Superintendent Brian Griffith.

Upon discovering the threat, state police were notified, the building was evacuated, and all classes were canceled for law enforcement to investigate.

“The high school will be inaccessible until it is cleared by the state police team,” a statement on the Penns Valley Area School District said.

The statement also noted that 12-month high school staff should report to the Penns Valley Elementary and Intermediate School, and nine- and 10-month staff were told to not report for the day.
