CENTRE COUNTY — Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy’s Naomi Crispin scored her 1000th career point at Bishop Carroll on Dec. 27, 2024, in Ebensburg. Unfortunately, her team lost for the first time in a close decision, 57-52 to Carroll. Here’s a closer look at how other local teams performed that same day:
STATE COLLEGE 60, LINVILLE HILL 28
The Lady Little Lions wasted no time in the first round game of the State College Holiday Tournament by outscoring Linville Hill by 20 points heading into halftime.
SC kept on the gas in the second half and took the game going away. Nine Lions scored in the game led by Lydia Tate with 15 and McKenna Whitehurst with 13.
BEA 44, PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA 43
Bald Eagle Area kept the Lady Mountaineers winless with an exciting, 1-point victory in the first game of the West Branch Holiday Tournament. It was BEA’s third win overall against five losses.
BISHOP CARROLL 57, SJCA 52
SJCA took its first loss of the season in Ebensburg to Bishop Carroll in a closely played game. Carroll was able to hold on against the Lady WolfPack for its sixth win in eight games.
The following day, on Dec. 28, 2024, State College and Philipsburg-Osceola took to the court again, turning out the following results:
STATE COLLEGE 40, DOWNINGTOWN WEST 35
The Little Lion defense showed up and kept Downingtown in single figures in the second and third quarters as SC took the Holiday Tournament Championship with the 5-point win.
SC led 20-17 at the half, but it outscored DWHS 11-9 down the stretch to take the win.
Tate and Tori Risha led the team with 10 points each.
P-O 49, WEST BRANCH 29
The Lady Mounties took their first win of the season with a 49-29 victory over the host Lady Warriors in the Consolation Game of the West Branch Holiday Tournament.
