BOALSBURG — Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy announced in a statement on Thursday, July 18, that Bryce King will step into the role of athletic director for the school.

King, who has over 20 years of experience coaching youth basketball and sports business, will step into the position for the upcoming academic year.

“With Bryce King as our new athletic director, SJCA hopes to signal a reignited commitment to excellence,” Anna Rupprecht, SJCA principal, said. “King will bring a renewed sense of purpose to developing skill and a fierce work ethic that can benefit our student athletes in the classroom, on the court, on the field and beyond.”

King grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, but is no stranger to Centre County, having attended Penn State University. He is the founder and owner of Team Lockdown LLC, a program specializing in basketball skills training for youth.

“Winning is great. But we’re also building young men and women who could be winners in life, and part of my job is to make sure that that happens,” King noted when discussing his philosophy on discipline, respect and communication when working with student athletes. King noted he was eager to help the SJCA athletics program excel into the next level of student athletics.

“The things that stands out about Mr. King the most are his excitement for the future of Saint Joseph’s athletics and the support he shows for the coaching staff,” Chad Walsh, SJCA coach and faculty member, said. “He has jumped in with two feet and that is going to be so important to continue building on the early successes of this athletic program.”
