WINGATE — Bald Eagle Area High School football’s Carson Nagle eclipsed 100 career passing touchdowns in his double overtime win against Greater Johnstown on Friday, Oct. 11.
Nagle has been lights out this season recording 138 completions for 1,967 yards on 218 for a completion percentage of .633. His 1,967 yards are seventh in the state and 108th nationally.
In a back-and-forth battle against Greater Johnstown, Nagle threw for 231 yards and four touchdowns while recording 11.6 yards per attempt. The senior’s touchdown pass in the dying minutes of regulation time saw him reach 100 in his career.
“Getting my 100th career touchdown pass meant a lot. That was one of my personal goals after my 10th-grade season,” Nagle said. “I have set many personal goals for myself and now that I am reaching those goals it proves with a lot of time and hard work you can accomplish them.”
Over the summer the 5’11 quarterback committed to Lock Haven University. The Bald Eagles play in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and NCAA Division II.
Lock Haven University’s facility is a thirty-minute drive from where Nagle currently plays.
“I chose Lock Haven over other schools because I have the ability to be close to home and all the people who mean a lot to me are going to be able to watch me play every Saturday,” Nagle said. “Also, Coach Mulrooney and his staff are building something special down there and I think that I could be a big part of what they are trying to build.”
It is safe to say Nagle would be an important addition to any squad. The senior not only has over 100 career touchdown passes, he also recently moved to fourth all-time on the Pennsylvania career passing yards list with 10,243.
Moving from the gridiron to the baseball diamond, Nagle has proven just as dominant.
In the 2023 season, the third basemen was named First Team All-State after hitting .388 with 42 RBI and five home runs. In the field, Nagle recorded 24 putouts and a .812 fielding percentage.
The Eagles have two state championships with Nagle on the team and finished last season ranked No. 3 in MaxPreps small-town national rankings. In his senior season, Nagle hopes to find similar success.
“My team goals for this upcoming baseball season are to compete or win another district and state title,” Nagle said. “My personal goal is to be named First Team All-State again.”
Nagle attributes some of his success to his role models.
“My dad is my biggest role model in life because he has taught me how to work hard and he has always been there for me,” Nagle said. “My biggest role model in football is Drew Brees because he is not the biggest or most talented quarterback, but he showed up and worked hard every day and now he is going to be in the Hall of Fame.”
