BOALSBURG — Tussey Mountain Ski and Recreation Resort opened for the 2024-25 skiing and snowboarding season on Saturday, Dec. 14.

Tussey Mountain offers skiing, snowboarding and tubing from December through middle to late March on its 50 acres of land that has three ski lifts and a snowboard lift. According to its website, the resorts snowmaking system covers 90% of the skiable terrain on the mountain.

“Tussey Mountain was originally operated as a public ski area under the name of Skimont during the 1960s,” the ski resort’s website explained. “After sitting idle for a few years, the mountain was re-opened as a private club in the mid-1970s under the name Bald Knob Ski Club. In 1981-82 the mountain was reorganized and opened again publicly as Tussey Mountain Ski Area, a name now synonymous with quality skiing to area residents. Since then, the mountain has grown both in size and sophistication of operation.”

Over the weekend of Saturday, Dec. 14, Tussey Mountain had skiing and snowboarding hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with lessons available both weekend days. However, in a post on Facebook, Tussey Mountain noted that tubing was note open yet, but an announcement with information on when it would become available would be coming soon.

“We will provide updates soon on weekday and upcoming holiday hours, snowmaking progress and terrain park builds, so stay tuned but in the meantime, we will see you this weekend,” the post shared.
