Wagner cards 73 for SC win at New Nine

STATE COLLEGE — Max Wager was seven strokes better than anyone else to lead the State College Area High School boys golf team over Central Dauphin and Hollidaysburg in a match at Centre Hills Country Club’s New Nine on Thursday, Sept. 1.


Wager shot a 73. State College finished with a 321 as a team, while Central Dauphin fired 328 and Hollidaysburg 347.


Each team played seven and scored the top four. The Little Lions’ A.J. Corson tied for the third best round at 81 and Joey Sabol was fifth with an 82.
Luke Janac’s 85, Solomon Liebert’s 85, Tanner Mona’s 88 and Sam Shaner’s 100 rounded out the individuals for State College.


MOUNTAIN LEAGUE
Penns Valley didn’t have enough competitors to score as a team, but that didn’t keep the Lady Rams’ Paige Dobson from edging Philipsburg-Osceola’s Olivia Hutton for lowest score by a Centre County golfer during a Mountain League girls match on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Clearfield Curwensville Country Club.


Dobson shot the second-lowest score of the match, a 57. Hutton was close behind with a 59.
Hollidaysburg’s Ashden Stitt was medalist with a 45.


P-O’s Camden Potter checked in at 62, while Bellefonte’s Sydney Hamilton carded a 64. Sophie McMurtrie wasn’t far behind her teammate Dodson with a round of 65.


Philipsburg-Osceola totaled 262, eight strokes behind Hollidaysburg for the team victory. Jacey Willians turned in a 68, while Madeline Cartwright and Reagan Thorp each shot 73 for the Lady Mounties and Bailey Vroman checked in at 82.
Bellefonte combined to shoot 287, with Katie Nugent scoring 68, Sophia Scott 73 and Erin Ashe 82

STATE COLLEGE GIRLS
Hannah Kopac finished tied for third and Sarah Huang was seventh as the State College girls golfed in a match at Mayapple Golf Club on Tuesday, Sept. 6.


Kopac shot a plus-12 84, nine strokes off the pace of Boiling Springs medalist Brooke Graham. Huang shot 92.
