Tales to Tails! A Virtual Family Discovery Day

June 1 - September 5

Free

Free Activities for Children of All Ages! Preschool through Upper Elementary! This virtual event offers loads of fun, family-friendly activities to celebrate summer in the garden. All virtual events are hosted through the Bellefonte Community Children’s Garden Facebook page.  You’re invited to become a citizen scientist and plant sunflowers and then count and record the bees for our community sunflower project. Learn what are the parts of a sunflower. Grow a three sisters’ garden. Build a pair of birdie binoculars. Learn how flowers invite pollinators and how to dress up as a butterfly. Create a butterfly’s life cycle with macaroni. Lots of birdie videos to view and a “plants with animal names” scavenger hunt. Once again, follow along and check out fun BCCG Facebook videos, including Laura Sarge from the Centre County Library reading a story of growing an amazing garden rich in indigenous people’s history. There will be kits for these activities available at the Centre County Library for pick-up twice per month. The Bellefonte Community Children’s Garden is supported by the Centre County Library, Penn State Extension Master Gardeners, and the Bellefonte Garden Club. Family Discovery Days are held each season.
