Man Hospitalized, Suspect Charged After Stabbing in State College

A State College man was arrested on Friday night after a stabbing that left another man hospitalized, according to borough police.

Marvin T. Williams, 36, was charged with one felony count of aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of simple assault and disorderly conduct.

State College officers responded at about 11:10 p.m. to the 1200 block of South Atherton Street, where a 39-year-old man had been stabbed multiple times outside, police said in a statement on Saturday.

The man was able to provide information about the incident before being flown by helicopter to UPMC Altoona to be treated for injuries, according to the statement. He is in stable condition.

Officers took Williams into custody at about 11:45 p.m. as he was returning to his State College residence.

Williams was arraigned on Saturday morning by District Judge Steven Lachman. He was unable to post $50,000 straight bail and is being held at the Centre County Correctional Facility.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
