Andrew “Andy” M. Pillot, 63, of Howard, Pennsylvania, passed away at Mount Nittany Medical Center on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. Named for uncles on each side of the family, he was the middle of five children of Joseph and Constance Pillot. Andy grew up in Milesburg and enjoyed all the activities of small town living like bike riding, floating in an innertube down the Bald Eagle Creek and sleeping out under the stars in the summer with friends. He was a 1975 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. Having the initials A.M.P. and the advertising campaign of A & P grocery stores at the time, his high school buddies dubbed him WEO.

Andy’s first job was as a clerk at Levine’s men’s store in Bellefonte. He enjoyed working there and was fond of the Levine brothers and their families. Later he worked for Hoy Transfer, Swatsworth Appliances, Royer Amusements and then Penn State University where he held several positions working his way up to IT support in Outreach and Distance Learning, the position from which he retired. In retirement he was working part-time at Ace Hardware in State College where he found many friends among his co-workers and customers.

Andy was fun-loving, congenial and quick-witted. He usually had a story that took way too long to tell and he often was the butt of his own jokes. He was generous to a fault and didn’t have a mean bone in his body. He was musically gifted and played guitar, banjo, piano, violin and harmonica, but his passion was drums. He was an excellent drummer having played in school bands from elementary through high school and then with several local bands including Hitchcock Railway and Silver Creek. He enjoyed jamming with other local musicians. Andy was a dedicated father, loyal brother and fun uncle and grandfather. He loved chocolate chip cookies. Above all else, he loved his son and loved tinkering with projects and teaching his son how to repair and build. Some of their favorite times were Saturday morning trips to the hardware store when Drew was small.

He is survived by his son Andrew “Drew” Pillot (Morgan) of Lewistown and three grandchildren, Keyda, Kayanna and Kaden. Andy is also survived by his siblings Margaret Richner, Joseph Pillot (Jayne), Lisa Talarigo and Susan Knisely (Allan), many nieces and nephews, lots of cousins and Axel, his cat. He was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, two brothers-in-law Ralph “Butch” Richner and Charles Talarigo and his canine buddies Hershey and Jackson.

Due to the pandemic, services will be private with the Rev. Carl E. Hill officiating.
