Barbara R. Gray (Ryan)

Barbara R. Gray, 89, of Bellefonte passed away at Mount Nittany Medical Center on Wednesday, April 7, 2021. Barbara was born in Wilkinsburg, PA on May 31, 1931, the daughter of the late Edward M.Ryan and Barbara Anna Lamer Ryan. On August 27, 1949, she married Maurice L. Gray, Jr. who preceded her in death on December 2, 1982. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara V. Simpson of Bellefonte; her grandchildren, Julie L. (Barrett) Smith of Bellefonte and Brent A.(Audra) Simpson of Stormstown: her great grandchildren, Tyler S. Simpson, Kylie A. Simpson, Lindsay M. Smith, Austin J. Smith and Ryan C. Smith.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, James Ryan, Edward Ryan, John Ryan, Joseph Ryan, Marcella Ryan and her son-in-law, John Simpson. She was a graduate of Wilkinsburg High School. She was a Housekeeper at Happy Valley Motor Inn. Barbara and her husband farmed for 30 years. She moved to State College in 2005. She enjoyed going to her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities, reading, going to plays, doing puzzles, skiing and going on cruises. She enjoyed singing at Gray’s Church, especially as a soloist. She volunteered at Curtin Mansion for over 10 years.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 11:00 A. M. at Grays Cemetery, Halfmoon Twp., Centre Co., with Pastor Andrew Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Grays Cemetery, Halfmoon Twp., Centre Co., PA.
