Betty I. (Gill) Watson

Betty I. Watson, of York, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Wellspan York Hospital.  She was 82.  Born February 16, 1939 in Woodward, Betty was a daughter of the late Arthur and Anna “Crater” Gill.  Betty married Archie A. Watson, Sr. on March 29, 1958.  Mr. Watson preceded Betty in death on June 6, 1989.

Betty was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of York.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading.  Betty loved animals, especially dogs.

Surviving is one son, Archie A. Watson Jr. and his wife, Anita, of York, with whom Betty has resided with for the last 26 years.  Also surviving is one step granddaughter, April Izer (Bill) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Betty is the last of her family having been preceded in death by brother’s Arthur, Sam, Paul and Bill Gill and sisters, Minnie Pressler, Pearl Hafer and Ruth Leslie.

A visitation for family and friends will be held June 19, 2021 from 10-11 a.m. at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim.  The funeral will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Kenneth Freed officiating.  Betty will be laid to rest in the Woodward Cemetery.   There will be a few words included in the committal service about Arthur, Betty’s brother who passed in January 2021.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Betty may be given to the York County SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
