Betty R. Bryant, 93, of State College, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at the Wynwood House in State College. Born on July 8, 1927, in Swissvale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles D and Mildred (Bassett) Wolcott. On July 6, 1946, in South Carolina, she married Samuel Bryant Jr. Sam passed away on November 7, 2009.
Betty was a 1944 graduate of Bellevue High School. She was an Entrepreneur of Small Businesses. She opened many businesses such as the Knight Lites, an electrical store that sold raw materials to electricians, and National Car Wash Supply.
Betty was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed playing both the organ and the piano, and she sang in the church choir for many years. She loved to sew, do needlepoint, and was an avid reader, especially of the Bible. As a writer, she enjoyed writing short stories, plays for her grandchildren, and poems. In her later years she also enjoyed walking. She and Sam, when they were able, traveled all across the United States.
Betty is survived by her two sons: Timothy D. Bryant and his wife, Rosemary, of Bellefonte and David J. Bryant and his wife, Virginia, of Austin PA, and one brother, Charles F. Wolcott of Titusville FL.
She is also survived by five grandchildren: Jenny Seely, Lisa McCaslin, Jesse Bryant, Julia Moon, and Timothy Bryant, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by two sisters: Virginia Mills and Mildred Kennedy.
One of her wishes was for her loved ones to know, “That I love them all forever. They gave me much joy and pleasure. They made my life worth living every one of them. They are the treasures of my heart.”
All services for Betty will be private. She will be laid to rest at the Schenck’s Cemetery in Howard.
