Bonnie J Brown

Bonnie J. Brown, 73, of Snow Shoe, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on October 13, 1947, in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the Wayne and Norma (Shimmel) McCloskey. On June 13, 1970, in Johnstown, she married Walter F. Brown. Walter survives at home.

Bonnie was a 1965 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. She worked at the JH France Refractory in Snow Shoe for a few years but then went to work as a secretary for the Mountaintop Regional Water Authority. She worked there for many years before retiring.

Bonnie was a member of the Snow Shoe Presbyterian Church before it’s closing. She was a Polio survivor since the age of 12, which limited a lot of her activities, especially as she got older. She enjoyed car rides and watching birds outside her living room window. She liked to cook when she was able. She loved her cats and the flower gardens her family made for her. Bonnie was a simple person and truly loved the simple things in life. She felt very blessed to have a child and grandchildren and treasured every moment she spent with them.

Along with her husband, Bonnie is survived by one daughter: Kimberly M. Soltis and her husband, Joseph, of Snow Shoe; three grandchildren: Keeleigh, Keira, and Brock all of Snow Shoe; two brothers and three sisters.

Following Bonnie’s wishes, there will be no formal service. She will be laid to rest privately at Askey Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Easter Seals of Centre PA, 383 Rolling Ridge Dr, State College, PA 16801.
