Brian J. Greene, 75, of Pine Grove Mills, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on November 14, 1945 in Sodus, NY, he was the son of the late Harold and Irene (Derks) Greene. On December 30, 1964 in Clearfield, he married Sally A. Sneddon, who survives at home.
Brian was a 1963 graduate of Clearfield High School. In February of 1964, he enlisted with the United States Air Force, earning the rank of Sergeant prior to his discharge in 1968. During his enlistment he received the Nation Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. After the service, he earned his bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Penn State University in 1972. He worked as a Child Support Investigator and Enforcement Officer for Domestic Relations until his retirement in 2005, after 30 years of service.
Brian was a member of the American Legion Post #245 in State College, where he currently served as First Vice Commander in charge of membership, and in the past, as the Post Commander and sat on the Board of Directors. He was also a member of the local Bald Eagle Chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America. He enjoyed shooting pool and working out at the gym. He liked to golf and would take the family to a miniature golf course whenever he could while on vacations. He was an avid reader, anything he could get his hands on, but he particularly enjoyed reading western novels and books about history. He liked his politics and history. He honored and respected all fellow service members and the duty they have for this country. He loved his family above all else. He and his grandson, Mason, were close and did many various activities and trips together, including gold prospecting and planning a trip to Colorado. “Pop Pop” was also a huge supporter of all of Mason’s sporting activities, especially baseball and football. He was a kind and smart man that will be forever missed and loved by many.
Along with his wife, Brian is survived by his daughter, Melissa D. Koch of Bellefonte; his son, Brian T. “Todd” Greene of Centre Hall; his grandson, Mason Greene; two brothers, James Greene of Rockton and Gary Greene of Clearfield; one sister, Michele Greene of Clearfield; numerous nieces and nephews; and many long-time close friends that will miss him dearly.
Along with his parents, Brian was preceded in death by his son in-law, Greg Koch and brother, Dennis Greene.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Post #245 at a later date and will be announced when the date is determined.
