Carl Hanscom

Carl R. Hanscom, 86, of rural Tyrone, passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 31, 2021. Carl was born on November 24, 1934 in Huston Twp., Centre Co., a son of the late Raymond H. and Bertha Rowin Hanscom. On June 30, 1999 he married Shirley M. Woodring, who survives at home. Also surviving are her sons, Dennis (Denise) Nevling of Tyrone, Lawrence (Cynthia) Nevling of Altoona, Anthony (Lora) Nevling of Tyrone, and Jody Nevling of Port Matilda and her daughter Valerie (John) Headley of Levittown. Also surviving are her 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grand children; his siblings Rosie Stamm of Philipsburg, Ethel Donley of Jersey Shore, Roy (Opal) Hanscom of Julian, Sylvia (Dave Renninger) of rural Howard, Louis (Sarah) Hanscom, Dorothy (Larry) Wert of Julian, and Joanne (Phil) Blazer of Bellefonte. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Jerome Hanscom, Theodore Hanscom, Evelyn Hanscom, Alfred Hanscom, Gertrude Albert, and Wanita Dreibelbis. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Mary Lou Hoy (Hanscom) on July 2, 1991.

He was employed by H. R. Imbt as an asphalt plant manager before his retirement. He was a member of Berean Bible Church in Unionville. Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
