Carla A. Maher, 76, of Jacksonville, passed away at home on Saturday, March 9, 2024. Born on May 3, 1947, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late William Charles and Elizabeth R. (Ryan) Schuster.
Carla was a 1965 graduate of Altoona High School. She worked as a receiving clerk for Wal-Mart for over 13 years until her retirement.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Milliken (Mikel) of Jacksonville, and two grandsons, Shannon Mikel and Christopher Joseph Milliken. Also surviving is a sister, Mary Courtney.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, her longtime companion, Sam Stover, and stepdaughter, Heather Stover.
Carla loved hummingbirds and lighthouses. She also enjoyed being outside, whether she was just sitting outside at her house, spending time at camp, or sitting on the beach with a cold beer, she always had a smile on her face!
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 1:00 PM, at Calvary Cemetery, 2417 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
