Charles F. “Chuck” Kunkle, Jr., 77, passed away at his home in Pennsylvania Furnace, PA, on April 14, 2025.

Born March 24, 1948, in Lock Haven, PA, Chuck’s life was marked by service, humor, and a deep love for family and friends.

A proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, Chuck returned home to pursue his passion for electronics at Williamsport Area Community College. He became a skilled and respected repairman of arcade games, pinball machines, pool tables, and jukeboxes, earning admiration across the twin tiers of New York and Pennsylvania. His knack for troubleshooting—even over the phone—was matched by his generosity and patience.

Chuck later settled in State College, where he began a long and fulfilling career with Houser Vending. Known for his easygoing banter and strong work ethic, he became a fixture in the community—always ready with a helping hand or a strong opinion.

A die-hard Penn State Nittany Lions fan, Chuck was a season ticket holder for over 35 years, cherishing time spent tailgating and attending games with family and friends. His enthusiasm for college football became a family tradition, passing down game-day memories to his daughter-in-law Stephanie and grandson Lucas.

Chuck also proudly rooted for the Philadelphia Phillies. He could often be found at The Legion or The Bar in Boalsburg, where he made sure Phillies games were on—and was known to playfully grumble when the Pirates took priority. His presence, wit, and loyalty were beloved staples of the local scene.

Whether you called him Charlie, Chuckles, or just Chuck, those who knew him will remember his originality, warmth, and signature sense of humor. He was the kind of man who left an impression—and a story—for everyone he met.

Chuck was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cornelia; his son, Steven; his sister, Miriam Ertel; and his brothers Alvin and Randall Wance. He is survived by his son, Brett (Stephanie), and grandson Lucas of Wake Forest, NC; sisters Dorothy Greninger and Jean Stroble; and grandchildren Terrance, Mitchell, Abby, and Eammon. He also leaves behind dear friends from American Legion Post 245 and The Bar in Boalsburg, who were like family to him.

Chuck’s memory will live on in the stories told, the laughter shared, and the community spirit he embodied. He was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed.
