Dennis A. Delong, 66, formerly of McAlevys Fort, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Centre Care in Bellefonte. Born on February 6, 1956, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Glenn S. and Julietta (Krebs) Delong.
Denny graduated from State College Area High School in 1974, where he was a member of the 1973 State Championship Football team. He started his carreer working for Valley GMC as a mechanic. He then worked at AquaPenn and Greg’s Sunoco Service station before returning back to work for Valley Trucking, previously Valley GMC.
Denny spent many years going to the gym and was an avid weight lifter, competing in many competitions over the years. He developed valued friendships with many people that he met at the gym. He was a unique character, always making sure you knew where you stood with him, he was a true and loyal friend. He had a larger than life personality and a heart that was even bigger. Denny loved the outdoors and had a tender spot for animals of all kinds, from feeding the feral cats around his property to shaking a can of feed to bring deer and turkeys out of the woods to hand feed, he enjoyed caring for them.
Denny is survived by many friends that he cherished deeply, and was very grateful for each and every one of them. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Delong, in 2015.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Pets Come First, 2451 General Potter Highway, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
A very special thank you to all the staff at Centre Care. You all made Denny feel special and for that, he was always grateful.
