Edward “Paddy” Padisak, 93, of Snow Shoe, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on October 11, 1928, in Clarence, he was the son of the late Joseph and Caroline (Yecina) Padisak. On February 27, 1954, in Clarence, he married the love of his life, Barbara A. Retorick. Barbara passed away on December 5, 2020.
Ed attended the Clarence School. He enlisted in the United States Army on November 8, 1950 and received he honorable discharge on October 12, 1952. He served during the Korean Conflict and earned the rank CPL. He was stationed in Germany as a Medic within his first year of deployment. He received the AON Germany Medal for his service.
Ed was a huge part of his community, whether it was in his younger days as the manager of Halls General Store, to Store Supervisor at Fleisher’s Markets, or as the Mountaintop Appliance Repairman, he was always helping someone. He became a Refrigeration Technician and worked on a lot of cooling units throughout Centre County. One could call Paddy and explain the problem, and he knew just how to fix it. He officially retired at the age of 90, but if you would call him, he would there in a heartbeat.
When Ed wasn’t working or helping at church events, you could find him along a creek, quietly fishing. It didn’t matter the type of fishing, nor the weather, he enjoyed being outdoors, amongst God’s creation. Ed lived a very simple life but was rich with his family and huge circle of friends. There were not many people around that did not know Ed Padisak. He will be missed by all that knew him.
He, along with his wife, were one of the founding members of the Mt. Top Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. He served on many boards at the church including Elder until his retirement at the age of 90. Paddy had a strong Christian faith and that was evident in his everyday life.
Nothing meant more to Ed than his family. He loved every one of them and was proud of all their achievements. He is survived by his daughter, Kim D. Taylor and her husband, Tom, of Clarence, son, Patrick E. Padisak and his wife, Sandi, of Snow Shoe, brother, Joseph Padisak of Clarence, and sister, Margaret Padisak of Clearfield. He is also survived by his four children: Thomas Taylor, Travis Taylor, Noah Padisak and Wyatt Padisak, and two great grandchildren, Silas and Heidi and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and wife, Ed was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa A. Johnson, one grandson, Matthew Johnson, six brothers and 3 half-brothers.
There will be a memorial service at a later date and will be announced.
