Eleanor Virginia Hazel

Eleanor Virginia Hazel, 94, of State College, died Saturday, May 8, 2021. She was a resident of Centre Care.

Born February 11, 1927, in Mingoville, she was the daughter of the late Boyd and Ada Zellers Albright. She married Richard Gerald Hazel on July 4, 1954, who pre-deceased her in 2002.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Ann Slocombe and her husband Kevin of Edgewater, MD; three sisters: Janet Kellerman of Boalsburg, Barbara Maurer and her husband Dale of Julian, and Linda Shakley and her husband Dale of Spring Mills.

Eleanor graduated from State College High School in 1945. Over the years, she was employed at Crabtrees Jewelry, The Penn State University Bursars Office, Schreffler Hoy & Smith Construction, the Frost Insurance Agency, Houserville Elementary School and Penn State University Housing and Food Services.

Eleanor was active in her church, St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, participated in Daffodil Days, was a Penn State football fan and enjoyed family picnics. Eleanor also enjoyed visiting Ocean City and the Outer Banks. After retirement, she traveled to New England, Florida and many Pennsylvania locations. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, quilting, ceramics and painting in her spare time.

Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
