Ellen Jean Young Shuey, 74, of Pleasant Gap, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, in Lewistown. She was born on July 5, 1950, in Bellefonte, to the late Donald and Bernice (Gentzel) Young.
Ellen worked at the Ramada Inn in State College for over 16 years until she retired. After retiring she worked part time at scraps and skeins in State College. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, making crafts and spending time with her children.
Ellen is survived by her two children, Donald Shuey and his wife Stacey of Bellefonte, and Natalie Wolf of State College, her three sisters, Carol Clark Baney of Centre Hall, Mary Kay Crust of Bellefonte, and Darlene Shaffer of Milroy. Also surviving are her two precious grandchildren, Isabelle and Kayla.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John Shuey Jr., her sister, Sandy Englert and brother, Donald Young.
There will be a public viewing held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 12:00PM to 1:00PM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 1:00PM, with her sister, Carol Clark Baney, officiating. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ellen’s memory Centre County to PAWS at 1401 Trout Road, State College, PA 16801.
