Evelyn Craine Henry Bailey, 94, of Boalsburg, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024. Born September 16, 1930, in Graysville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Roy Craine Henry and Madeline Campbell Henry. Evelyn spent her childhood in Spruce Creek before moving to Pine Grove Mills and graduating from State College High School in 1948.
Evelyn married Harry Richard “Dick” Bailey on October 27, 1950, sharing 60 wonderful years together until his passing in March 2011. They built their life together at the cabin at Little Flat Fire Tower and later on Main Street in Boalsburg, where Evelyn became a familiar and friendly face to many.
Evelyn was a member of the Boalsburg Zion Lutheran Church and The Boalsburg Fire Company Auxiliary. She was a dedicated homemaker and worked part-time as an employee of the Harris Township office, where she worked as a bookkeeper and tax collector for many years. Outside of work, she cherished time spent outdoors, particularly fly fishing, hunting, and taking daily walks around Boalsburg where she enjoyed chatting with neighbors and friends. Her love for her community was evident in her friendly demeanor and her famous angel food cake enjoyed by many.
Evelyn is survived by her three children: Linda M. Musser of Aaronsburg, Lee W. Bailey and his wife, Debra, of Mifflinburg, and Jenny L. Bailey of Boalsburg. She was preceded by her brothers Donald C. Henry and Harold R. Henry. She also leaves behind a legacy of seven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren who will forever cherish her memory.
