Fadra E. Harter, 81, of Bellefonte, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. She was born on July 9, 1944, in Bellefonte, to the late Gerald and Phyllis W. (Walker) Schreffler. On July 14, 1962, in Bellefonte, she married her beloved husband of 63 years, Donald W. Harter, who survives at home.
Fadra was a 1962 graduate of Bellefonte High School. She worked for 30 years at Skills of Central PA until retirement. After she retired, she went back into the workforce and worked at Penn State University in Donor Relations for 12 years and then worked at Christopher A. Banks.
Fadra loved helping others and staying busy. She was a proud 40 + year member of Brookside Wesleyan Church where she was active in The Truth Seekers Sunday school group as well as Wednesday night Ladies Group. Fadra enjoyed her days crocheting and sewing, and she especially loved traveling to Ocean City Maryland, taking cruises and shopping. In the late 1950’s she brough spirit and grace to the Bellefonte American Legion marching band as a majorette. Fadra was especially proud of her “girls”, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two children, Sheri Miller (Doug) of Bellefonte and Cathy Lutz (Darren) of Bellefonte, 3 grandchildren, Ashley Miller (Dale Miller-deceased), Michael Lutz (Erica), Catelyn Kennedy (Jeron) and 4 great grandchildren, Avery and Brantley Lutz, Grayson Miller, and Asher Kennedy. Also surviving are her siblings, Jerie Kellogg (Mark Miller), Denise Fry (Harvey), Jeni Lucas (John), and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Barry and Jeffrey Schreffler.
There will be a public viewing held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 10:00am until 11:00am at Brookside Wesleyan Church, 403 Bush Hollow Road, Julian. Funeral services will begin at 11am at the church with Pastor Michael Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery, Jacksonville.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at Mount Nittany Medical Center for their exceptional care and compassion shown during her time there.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Fadra’s memory to Brookside Wesleyan church, 403 Bush Hollow Road, Julian, PA 16844.
