George S. Zonge, 70, of Port Matilda, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021, at his home after a long illness. Born on February 4, 1951, in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late George S.E. and Jean A (Gardner) Zonge. On July 17, 1999, in Lebanon, IN, he married Dorothy L. Black, who survives at home.
George was a 1967 graduate of State College Area High School. He enlisted in the United States Army on September 15, 1970 and received his honorable discharge on September 14, 1976 after earning the rank of SP4. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Parachute Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal for his service.
George worked at various places after his discharge, until his health forced him to be on full disability. He was of the protestant faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hiking when he was able.
George is survived by his wife, one son, Quentin Smith and his wife, Sarah, of Michigan, one daughter, Chelsea Simmons of Port Matilda, one granddaughter, Sadie Smith, one brother, and four sisters.
Along with his parents, George was preceded in death by one son, Sindell J. Smith and one sister.
