G. Barry “Fat” McMullin, 83, of Bellefonte, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in Lock Haven. Born on September 25, 1941, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late John D. Sr. and Annabelle (Lucas) McMullin.

Barry was a 1961 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. He worked at Cerro Copper and Brass for over 35 years, retiring in 2008 as the shipping manager. Before starting his career at Cerro, Barry mastered the art of making the famous Bonfatto’s Bonanza Sub and honed his customer service skills while working at Bellefonte Hardware. Later in his career, Barry served as the warehouse manager at Capperella Furniture.

More important than his work, hobbies, and interests was Barry’s deep love for his family and friends. Nothing meant more to him than his family and ensuring the very best for his children and grandson. He worked tirelessly to support their interests and aspirations throughout their lives, a dedication for which they are forever grateful. Barry was also a steadfast and loyal friend to many, always going out of his way to ensure his friends had what they needed and were happy. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering support touched the lives of all who knew him.

Barry was a man of many talents and passions, known for his competitive spirit and dedication to his community. He was a multiple-time champion in the Centre County Pool League, earning respect as a formidable competitor. He also had a knack for throwing darts, a love of playing golf, and was an active participant in slow-pitch softball leagues, proudly representing several local teams. A lifelong sports fan, Barry was a die-hard supporter of Penn State Football and cheered passionately for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers, through thick and thin. His commitment to his community was equally strong, demonstrated by his active involvement in numerous organizations. Barry was particularly proud of his contributions to the Bellefonte Lions Club, where he supported countless charitable initiatives, and the Bellefonte Elks Club, where he formed lasting friendships.

Barry is survived by his loving daughter, Traci Capperella, and her husband, David, of Bellefonte; his devoted son, Marc McMullin, and his wife, Peggy, of Wilmington, North Carolina; his brother, Paul Douglas McMullin, of Bellefonte; and his cherished grandson, Dominic Capperella. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John McMullin Jr., and his grandson, Grady Hooley McMullin.

Barry’s legacy of love, humor, and dedication to his family, friends, and community will forever be remembered.
