Hazel E. (Wolfe) Betack

Hazel E. Betack, of Millheim, passed from this life on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Mount Nittany Medical Center.  She was 99.  Born May 4, 1921 in Shintown, Hazel was a daughter of the late John and Bertha “Steiger” Wolfe.  She was first married to Ernest Day in 1943 and, he passed in 1958.  Hazel then married Edward Betack who preceded her in death in 1997.

Hazel was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Millheim.  She was employed in the laundry department at the former Laurelton State Hospital in Laurelton.  She was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren after her retirement.

Hazel is survived by one daughter, Yukona Weaver (Gary) of Millheim; two grandchildren, Ashlie Asendorf (Cary) of Lemont and Damien Weaver of Moshannon; one brother, Jennings Wolfe (Betty) of Millheim and three great grandchildren, Kobe and Kaden Asendorf and Wyatt Lutz.  Hazel was preceded in death by siblings, Marian Rishel, Lila May, Bernice Zerby, Rose Ackerman, Virginia Wingard, Paul Wolfe and Betty Wolfe. 

A public graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Curt Wingert officiating.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Hazel may be given to Penns Valley EMS, 106 Ross Hill Road, Spring Mills, PA 16875.
