Homer Lewis Hoy, 87 of Bellefonte, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021 at his home.  He was born on July 21, 1933,  the son of the late Willard & Geneveive Hoy.

On September 28, 1956 he was united in marriage to Delores J. Hoy in Howard.  They were married for 65 years. Along with his wife he is survived by one son Robert D. (Kitty) Hoy of Elliotsburg, Pa., one daughter Donna M. Hoy of Bellefonte, one grandson Kyle H. Hoy of Bellefonte, one grand-daughter Cherrie (Christopher) Cook of Carlisle, Pa., two sisters Edith Benner of Julian, Pa. and Ruth Lingle of Reedsville, Pa., and also survived by Debra Burd a neighbor and friend “Big Sister” and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by two brothers Nevin & Irvin Hoy.

He worked at Cerro Copper & Brass (Titan) from 1955-1997 for over 42 years.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army from May 1953 – June 1961.  He served during the Korean War in Munich, Germany.  He graduated from the Howard High School class of 1951.  He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Jacksonville, and the Bellefonte American Legion and V.F.W.

Homer grew up on the family farm on Jacksonville Rd..  He was an avid hunter, a member of Pappy’s Lodge Hunting Club.  He loved to hunt, trap, and fish and also woodworking and collision repair.   He enjoyed the Grange Fair and camping with the family.  He especially loved to hunt, trap and fish with his grandson Kyle.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 12 p.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard.  Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be at the Jacksonville Cemetery with military rites. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
