Irvin J. Emel, 69, of Bellefonte, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Embassy of Hearthside in State College. Born on August 15, 1954, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Arthur D. and Evelyn L. (Mills) Emel.
Irvin attended school in the Bellefonte Area School District.
He is survived by his siblings: Melvin Emel, Kenneth Emel, Evelyn Reese, and Debra Long, all of Bellefonte, and Ralph Emel of Houtzdale.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four sisters and one brother and his canine best friend, Buddy, his retriever/coon hound mix.
Throughout life, Irvin was always to see the joy in the little things. Whether he was at home watching some of his favorite movies or going for a walk with his dog, Buddy, he always had a smile on his face. He also enjoyed going to carnivals when they would come to the area.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. An additional viewing will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Doug Conway officiating. The graveside service will directly follow at Advent Cemetery in Milesburg.
