James D. Schreffler

James D. Schreffler, 69, of Bellefonte, passed away at his sister’s residence on Saturday, December 26, 2020. Born on October 31, 1951 in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Carl E. Schreffler, Sr. and Dorothy (Runkle) Schreffler.

James was a graduate of Bellefonte High School. 

He is survived by one son, Josh Schreffler, and one daughter, Tonya Schreffler, five brothers, Carl, Robert, Ken, Ron, and Tim, and one sister, Gail “Kathy” Laird. Also surviving is his longtime friend, Cindy Bartley, and his best friend, Ralph Perryman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jackie Schreffler, and one sister, Donna Witter. 

James was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge 1565 and the American Legion Post 813, both in Clarence. He loved the outdoors and being in the woods any chance he got! He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved going out west to hunt elk. Most recently, when his health began to deteriorate, he moved in with his sister, Kathy, and her husband, Mike, and they provided the care that he needed during his last few months.

No funeral services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
