Jean A. (Addleman) Covalt

Jean A. Covalt of Bellefonte, passed from this life Friday, March 19, 2021 at Mount Nittany Medical Center.  She was 74.  Born January 9, 1947 in Bellefonte, Jean was a daughter of the late Richard T. Addleman, Sr. and Lois M. (Horner) Addleman.  She was a 1964 graduate of Penns Valley High School.  She was married to Allen Wance who preceded her in death in 2003. 

Jean was employed as the office manager at the office of Dr. Candace Covey in Bellefonte.  She was a member of the Madisonburg United Methodist Church where she had been a Sunday school teacher and Bible school teacher.  She was a past president of the Aaronsburg Civic Club, a past secretary for the Aaronsburg Dutch Fall Festival and, a certified lay speaker.  Jean also helped cook meals for shut in’s.  Her favorite leisure activities were painting and long car rides in the countryside.   

Jean is survived by three sons, David A. Wance (Wanda), Stacey W. Wance, and Douglas R. Wance; five siblings, Joan Lassman (Richard), R. Thomas Addleman, Jr. (Janet), Judy Poponak (Larry), Charles Addleman and Larry Addleman (Holly).  Also surviving are two grandchildren, five great grandchildren and her canine best friend, Annie.  In addition to her first husband, Jean was preceded in death by one son, Randy T. Wance, one brother, Alan Addleman, one grandson, Nicholas Wance and, her second husband Merrill “Tony” Covalt.  

A Celebration of Life service is being planned for a later date.  Contributions in memory of Jean may be given to Madisonburg United Methodist Church, c/o Charlotte Fetterolf, 143 Madisonburg Pike, Madisonburg,  PA 16852 or to the Faith Alive Fellowship, 4394 Penns Valley Rd, Spring Mills, PA 16875.
