Kent G. “Stick” Stickler, 85, of Spring Mills, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at home. Born on September 13, 1935 in Bellefonte, he was the son of Malcolm “Max” and Mamie (Griffith) Stickler. On August 5, 1962, in Port Matilda, he married Sonja A. Biddle, who survives at home.

Stick was a 1953 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. After 42 years of service, he retired from the Pennsylvania Fish Commission as a fishery technician. During his employment, he stocked fish, painted signs, and then worked in the engineering department.

Stick was a member of the American Legion Smith-Pletcher Post 779 in Centre Hall and the VFW Post 9575. He was an WWII enthusiast, loved airplanes, and enjoyed nice cars. He always had a project to do around the house and enjoyed tinkering around the property. He liked to fish and loved his four-legged companions, both canine and feline. Those that knew him would say he was a cantankerous man.

Along with his wife and their pets, Stick is survived by two brothers, Brent Stickler of McAlevys Fort and Daryl Stickler and his wife, Amy, of McAlevys Fort; four sisters, Scheryl Webber and her husband, Dick, of Pleasant Gap, Colleen Smith and her husband, Mike, of West Virginia, Renee Couch and her husband, Dwayne, of McAlevys Fort, and Crystal Barber and her husband, Mel, of Huntingdon; two brother in-laws, George Biddle and his significant other, Barb, of Fort Meyers, FL and Jeff Biddle of Hanover; his sister in-law, Sheila Sprenkle and her husband, John, of Mifflintown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 11am-1pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc, 228 S. Pennsylvania Ave, Centre Hall, PA 16828. Masks will be required, and social distancing will be encouraged.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Pets Come First, 2451 General Potter Hwy, Centre Hall, PA 16828.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all those that took time out of their day to assist Sonja in taking care of Stick, walking the dogs, and other various tasks around the home. Tina and Jeff Bressler, Renee Couch, and so many other friends and neighbors, your help and care was greatly appreciated.
