Kevin Mitchell Poorman, age 44, of Anchorage, Alaska, died June 14, 2023. Born June 28, 1978, in State College, he was the son of the late Edwin M. Poorman and Donna (Latorre) Poorman, who survives. In addition to his mother, Kevin is survived by his sister Sara (Poorman) Francois, her husband Jean-Michel, and one nephew of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by his partner and the love of his life Kathryn Touchstone of Anchorage.
Kevin struggled with active addiction for nearly 25 years and passed in Nevada due to a relapse resulting in an overdose of cocaine laced with fentanyl. Over the past two years, Kevin had found sweet solace in recovery and faithfully worked his program to build a fulfilling and joyful life. Kevin was a leader in the Community, serving and supporting those in need of encouragement and guidance up until his untimely death.
Kevin graduated from State College Area High School in 1996, and continuing the legacy of his grandfather and father, Kevin attended Penn State University and was a member of the Penn State Varsity Wrestling team under head coach John Fritz. After graduating in 2000 with a B.S. in Finance, Kevin began his career in commercial underwriting at Wells Fargo Bank. During his tenure in banking, he supported his parents with selling their accounting business, Horizons Unlimited. While assisting in transitioning their beloved clients to a new firm, Kevin and his father spent much cherished time driving the winding back roads of Pennsylvania, strengthening their bond as father and son.
Most recently, Kevin was a dedicated government lending relationship officer with Greater Commercial Lending. This next step in his career allowed Kevin to combine his exhaustive intellect, curiosity for emerging trends, and expert banking knowledge, leaving him rewarded and fulfilled at the end of each day.
Kevin was an avid fly fisherman who routinely trekked the majestic wilds of Colorado and beyond to find rivers’ headwaters. Kevin was most at home when exploring the mountains, dancing the night away to a favorite band, or spending time with the family and friends he loved dearly. Kevin’s zest for life was always infectious, and this sentiment will live on with all those he loved and who loved him.
In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and chosen nieces and nephews, all of whom are forever changed by loving and knowing him.
