Louise Ann (Richards) Hendershot, of Bellefonte, PA, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully at Centre Crest Nursing Home, Bellefonte, on December 10, 2020 from complications of COVID-19. We’ll forever treasure the many, many wonderful memories we have of her and know she’s now at peace and pain free in a beautiful place with her loved ones.

She was born September 26, 1926 in Bellefonte, a daughter of the late Samuel C. and Carrie E. Hazel Richards. She graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1945. After graduation, she worked at Titan Metal Products of Bellefonte in the Trimming Department, where she gave up her job to a returning soldier from World War II. She also worked at Parrish Drug Store in Bellefonte. On June 25, 1949, she married the late Fred C. Hendershot who passed away December 19, 1994. In 1957, during the Korean War, she and her husband were members of the United States Air Force. Air Defense Command, Ground Observer Corps, as plane spotters for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bellefonte.

She is survived by two daughters: Carol Hendershot, wife of Edward Evock, of Bellefonte; Barbara Vanderstappen, wife of Peter, of Lebanon, PA; two grandchildren: Erika Friddle, wife of Christopher, of Andrews, TX, and Ty Vanderstappen of Middletown, NY; and also, a great grandson, Wyatt Friddle of Andrews, TX. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, who fondly called her “Aunt Weesie.” Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers: William, John (Jack), Malcolm (Mick), Donald, James and sisters: Shirley, Betty, Jean, and Nell, as well as two infant sons, Thomas and Fred, Jr., and one infant daughter, Susan.

“Mamie” had an incredible memory and loved to spend time telling us stories about her childhood and growing up in Prossertown. She especially enjoyed playing board and card games with all of us. At Centre Crest, she loved participating in bingo and ceramics and enjoyed their musical entertainment.
