Mark E. Brewer, son of John Brewer and the late Lois Brewer, died February 4th, 2021

We could tell you the usual story: that he was born in Nyack, New York in 1955. That his graduation from State College Area High School in 1974 was followed by three years of service in the United States Army. That he would later retire after 28 years as a C.O. at Rockview. That he is survived by his father: John; wife of 39 years: Deborah (formerly Holsinger); his four children: Jason Holsinger(Amanda), Charlotte Prisk(Chris), Rebekah Parker(Aaron), Jessica Jack(Hassani); eleven beautiful grandchildren; and three siblings: Connie Smith (Terry), Joel Brewer and Scott Brewer.

We’d rather tell you about his interesting life. Mark was a doer with an unnaturally good work ethic. To boot, he was a skilled woodworker and handyman with a variety of hobbies including: jigsaw puzzle making, calligraphy, locksmithing, knifemaking and many more. He enjoyed being outdoors. Camping with family was a favorite pastime. He loved to challenge himself with long bicycle trips and unique sports like scuba diving and muzzleloader hunting. He was a devout Christian who spoke Spanish. He made over a dozen trips to Mexico to build churches, where he would lay block and act as a translator for his fellow builders. Even after his devastating cancer diagnosis in 2018, he continued doing renovation projects and serving the Lord. Mark will be remembered in our hearts for the courage, kindness and charity he lived by.

Due to the pandemic, all services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Chetumal Bible College, State College Access Church, P.O. Box 288, 210 West Hamilton Ave., State College, PA 16801.
