Martin “Marty” J. Fleishman, M.D., 74, of Boalsburg, PA, died Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Wynwood House, surrounded by his family.

Born July 1, 1946, in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Bernard and Yetta (Shaffer) Fleishman. He married Gloria J. (Bell) Fleishman, on April 28, 1984, who survives at home.

He is survived by two sons, Aaron Fleishman, of State College, PA, and Branden (Loren) Fleishman, of Nashville, TN. Marty is also survived by his brothers, Ervin Fleishman, M.D., of Boca Raton, FL, and Charles (Michelle) Fleishman, of Voorhees, NJ. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Marty was a graduate of Abington Senior High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Ursinus College in 1968 and a Doctor of Medicine from Thomas Jefferson University in 1972. Following medical school, he completed his residency in General Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He started a private practice, Lewistown Surgical Associates, in Lewistown, PA, where he practiced for over 30 years. For the past 12 years, he practiced with Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford, ME.

He enjoyed playing golf, traveling and going on adventures with family, and most recently playing ping pong at Liberty Hill. He appreciated spending time with his sons at their sporting events and hobbies, he was an avid Penn State sports fan, and he was fond of telling jokes and stories. Marty was passionate about practicing medicine and sharing his expertise with his many medical students and interns.

Marty was a beloved husband and proud father. He cared well for his family and cherished the time they spent together.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, at Koch Funeral Home with Rabbi David Ostrich officiating.

Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
