Obituary of Alice Hess Ruble , 95

Alice Hess Ruble, 95, of Runville, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Wynwood House in Centre Hall.

Born on September 29, 1916 in Altoona, she is a daughter of the late Albert and Ada (Reily) Hess.

On August 1, 1948, she was married to Donald A. Ruble, who preceded her in death on May 28, 1986.

Mrs. Ruble owned and operated, along with her late husband, Alice and Don Hairdressers in State College for many years. During that time, she and her husband were very well known in the community for the hairdressing service they operated and had the privilege to take care of former Penn State University President Milton Eisenhower and his family, former United States First Lady Mamie Eisenhower, and Janet Blair.

Alice was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in State College and enjoyed bird watching.

She is survived by a daughter, Nona Klinefelter (Robert) of Runville; a son, John A. Ruble of State College; a sister, Lena “Tuckey” Louder of State College and formerly of Altoona; a brother, Albert Hess of Ft. Myers, FL; four grandchildren, Kellie Klinefelter of Bellefonte, Tina Klinefelter of Runville, Jami Ruble of Falling Waters, WV, and Justin Ruble of Milesburg; and three great-grandchildren, Cody, Kendra, and Kelsey Park.

Family will receive friends from 12 PM until the time of the funeral services at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 30, 2012 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. The Rev. P. Stevens Lynn will be officiating. Entombment will follow at Centre County Memorial Park, State College.
