Allan A. Derzak, 79 of State College, died Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center at State College

He was born June 9, 1936; in Pittsburgh; a son of the late Albert and Edith W. (DiGiacobbe) Derzak.

On June 3, 1961in Wilkinsburg, he married Barbara L. Robinson in who survives at home.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Penn State University. He began working at Penn State in the Personnel Division and later became the Director of University Parking, at Penn State retiring in June of 1991.He also worked for forty-three years as a statistician for Penn State, and for the last seventeen years he was the head statistician. He also served as a cook at Grove Springs Camp.

During the Korean Conflict he entered the Officer Candidate School with the U.S. Navy in Newport, RI and was commissioned as an Ensign in 1959. He was stationed on the U. S. S. Alamo as a first division officer. In 1960 while serving at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center he was Battalion Commander and Schedule Officer. While stationed in Pittsburgh, he was a Navy Officer Recruiter, earning the outstanding Officer Recruiter Accommodation with a recruiting record of over 200%. He finished his time with the Navy in 1965 with the rank of full Lieutenant.

He was a member of Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church. In his free time he was an avid fisherman, gardener and cherished spending time with his family

Surviving in a addition to his wife are three children, Michael A. (Carol A.) Derzak of Centreville, VA, Christopher A. (Annie E.) Derzak of Finksburg, MD and Tracy A. Nissley (Jay) of Harrisburg; one sister Shelley A. Hiegel (Patrick) of Pittsburgh; and a brother in law C. Marvin Robinson of Houserville, five grandchildren, Trey Nissley, Christopher J. Derzak, Zoe A. Nissley, Luke A. Nissley, and Abigael E. Derzak; three step-granddaughters; and three step-great grandsons.

Friends will be received from 10 AM until 12:30 PM, Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church, 1500 E. Branch Road in State College, The service will follow immediately at 12:30 PM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church, 1500 E. Branch Road, State College, PA 16801; or to the Intensive Care Unit at Mount Nittany Medical Center, 1800 E. Park Ave., State College, PA 16803.
