Anna S. “Annie” Duke Shreckengast, 92, of Clarence, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2010 at Centre Crest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bellefonte. Born on October 2, 1917, in Snow Shoe Twp, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Anna Pavlik Durachko. On March 5, 1935, she married John G. Duke who passed away in 1970. In 1982, she married George M Shreckengast who passed away in 1986.

Annie attended the Allentown High School She was employed in the Biophysics Department at the Pennsylvania State University until her retirement. She was a life member of the Queen of Archangel Parish in Clarence and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Annie enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, traveling, and working in her flower gardens.

She loved spending time with family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Annie is survived by: two sons; John R. Duke (Antoinette) of Elmira, NY, and Martin M. Duke (Dorothy) of Clarence, by one brother, Clemet Durachko of Clarence, two sisters, Eleanor Punda of Indiana & Helen Paladino of New York. She is also survived by three grandchildren; Steven Duke of New York, Patricia Pierce of New York, & Dorothy McCloskey (Daniel) of Clarence, and four great grandchildren; Joseph Duke, Alexander Pierce, Matthew McCloskey, and Madison McCloskey. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, five brothers, and three sisters.

Friends will be received Monday, March 8, 2010 from 6-8pm, with a rosary service at 7:45pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St. Snow Shoe. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 11am at the Queen of Archangel Parish, 102 Church St, Clarence with Father Lubomir Strecok officiating.
