Anne Platt Jenness, 91, died October 31, 2017 at Hearthside Nursing Center. She was born April 21, 1926 in Wilmington, DE, the daughter of Edward Vance Platt and Mary Putnam Platt. She grew up in New Castle, DE, and graduated in 1947 from Wilson College, Chambersburg, PA, with a B. A.

magna cum laude in organ performance. With a minor in mathematics, she went to work for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (predecessor of NASA) at Langley Field VA in 1947. With a job title Computer, she made calculations in sequences now controlled by FORTRAN programs. She also was organist at the First Presbyterian Church in Hampton, VA, and later at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in State College, PA and the First Presbyterian Church in Bellefonte, PA.

On August 27, 1949 she married James R. Jenness, Jr. who survives with sons Russell and Gordon of State College, PA, daughter Jane and her husband Gerald Franks and grandchildren John Russell Franks and Anne Marie Franks of Sterling VA.

She enjoyed camping, swimming in the Science Park Pool and concerts, both as a performer and in the audience. She was active in the local chapter of the American Guild of Organists. In retirement she played pop music on a Hammond organ to entertain Alzheimers patients.

Visitation will be from 1 until 2 p.m., on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., at the funeral home with the Reverend Jeffrey A. Packard officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Mills Cemetery.
