Arthur C. Shreffler, Sr. 86 of Nesquehoning, formerly of rural Bellefonte and Snow Shoe passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the home of his son. Art was born on June 27, 1929, in Bellefonte, a son of the late James A. and Margaret E. Kessling Shreffler. On December 1, 1953, he married the former MaryLou Sipes who preceded him in death, August 24, 2001. He is survived by his son Arthur C. (Bertha M.) Shreffler, Jr. of Nesquehoning, and his faithful companion Little Fox, two brothers, Bond L. Shreffler of Houtzdale and Norman K. Shreffler of Snow Shoe, four grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and two step great-great grandchildren.

Art had worked in maintenance at Centre Crest, Young American Homes in Wingate and had also worked for Dunlap Ford in Bellefonte for 15 years as a mechanic. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Bellefonte Undine Fire Co., #2, Bellefonte V.F.W., Marsh Creek Brotherhood, and he enjoyed carpenter work and camping.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a daughter, Bridgett Miller, a son, Edward Shreffler, three brothers, Foster, A. “Shorty” Shreffler, James Shreffler, Harry “Buzz” Shreffler and three sisters, Sarah Pippei, Edna Watson, and Mary Rose.

Memorial Services will be held at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Little Marsh Creek Road, Howard, Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Herbert G. Emel, officiating.

Family and friends will be received from 10 A.M. – 11A.M. at the church. Military honors will be accorded. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
