Beatrice M. Camp passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014, in the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit. She was 96.
Born April 9, 1918 in Jersey Shore, she was a dedicated, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She loved cooking, crocheting afghans for family, and making her home warm and welcoming.
Bea's family moved to Greenburr in 1921. She attended the former Sugar Valley High School, graduating in 1935. She served as secretary of the men's varsity club and was the first female in school history to be awarded a varsity letter. She met the love of her life, Bill Scaff from Pittsburgh during the Great Depression when he supervised food preparation for the Civilian Conservation Corps at the Tea Springs camp near Carroll. Bea retired from West Pharmaceutical Services in Jersey Shore in 1980.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Scaff in 1952; two sons, William and David; a daughter, Jean Lucille; a grandson, Timothy Weaver; and two great-grandchildren, Lucien Snook and Lauren Embick. She is survived by daughters Dolores Embick and her husband Len, Patricia Weaver and her husband Wayne, son Dan Scaff and his wife Dianne, daughter-in-law Marilyn Scaff, and stepdaughter Phyllis Miller; twelve grandchildren, and many great- and great-great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving child of the late Adam and Ella (Strouse) Bressler and the widow of Eugene Camp.
Bea's family thanks the staff of the Extended Care Unit for the compassionate care they provided to their mother and grandmother.
A private graveside service and interment will be held at a later date. There will be no viewing.
