Bertha L. Haines, 90, formerly of rural Julian, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Hearthside Rehab & Nursing Center, State College.

Born February 5, 1925, in La Jose, Clearfield County, Bertha was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Gaynor McCulley. Her husband, Robert H. Haines preceded her in death May 25, 1977. She was a homemaker. Bertha was a mother and grandmother to many children in her community. She liked working cross word puzzles, and enjoyed cooking and baking. She was of the Protestant Faith.

She is survived by one daughter, Donna Sunday; one son, Melvin “Bud” Haines; two sisters, Nedra Westover and Twila Straw; two brothers, Melvin McCulley and Bobby McGarvey; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Charles R. “Butch” Haines, Sr.; one brother, Bud McCulley; and one sister, Kate Gillman.

Family and friends will be received at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring St., Milesburg on Saturday, April 4, 2015, from 3-4 p.m. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery, Huston Township, Centre County. Memorial contributions may be made to Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, P.O. Box 288, Milesburg, PA 16853 in memory of Bertha L. Haines.
