Betty E. Wasson, formerly of Rebersburg, passed away Friday, November 30th at her home in Pleasant Gap. She was 86. Born October 22, 1932 in Lock Haven, Betty was a daughter of the late LaRue A. and Emma E. “Lee” Porter. She was a graduate of Hublersburg High School. On June 1, 1952 she married Richard L. Wasson, Sr. who preceded her in death on October 31, 1976.

Betty was a co-owner of the former Wasson Motors in Millheim where she assisted her husband in the running of the business. In her later years she enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren. She attended St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pleasant Gap. In her earlier years, Betty enjoyed bowling, and still enjoyed playing cards, bingo, attending Grange Fair and puzzles. Most of all, Betty enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends and spending time with her family.

Surviving are four daughters, Vickie Lee Shawley (Ron) of Bellefonte, Gail Lee Feldman (Ken) of Granite Falls, NC, Gay Lyn Catherman of Howard and Tammy Lou Cecil of Bellefonte; thirteen grandchildren, Richard L. Wasson, III (Amy), Samantha Wasson (Aiden), Jennifer Shawley, Christopher Shawley (Dawn), Eric Wasson, Elizabeth Rosenberry, (Zackary), Jonathon Shawley, Scott Feldman (Alexandra), Leah Feldman, Brandon Catherman, Tiffany Catherman, Cassidy Cecil and Ashley Cecil. Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Richard L. Wasson, IV, Peyton Wasson, Luke Shawley and Owen Shawley, and her daughter in law, Kim Rickert. In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by one son, Richard L. Wasson, Jr.; one grandson, Michael Wasson; one son in law, Troy Catherman, and one brother Robert Porter.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, December 4th. Funeral services will be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church on Wednesday, December 5th at 10:00 am with Pastor Kevin Shock officiating. Betty will be laid to rest in Hublersburg Cemetery.
